Volunteers wanted for land and water activities.
Land, water and boaters volunteers should bring anything they will need for personal comfort and safety.
The Puako site for “Scoop it marine debris cleanup” maybe 1 to 2 miles from the shore.
We provide cleanup supplies, sign in waivers, tally sheets, jug of water, and snacks.
RSVP a potluck lunch and bring a dish to share.
South Kohala Reef Alliance is a non profit and can provide tax donation slips related to cleanup expences.
Resources for boaters are knives and scoop nets. See below.
They will cut through nets and lines like butter. Made with stainless steel, and can easily be re-sharpened.
Kurt Leiber is a guest partner from Ocean Defenders. He will have several knives to loan boaters who do not have a good way to cut up the nets. Kurt will share net gear recovery techniques on site. So get there early and he will share his expertise with you.
